Alert Level 2 – Revised operating restrictions

Since COVID-19 arrived in New Zealand and the Alert Level system was introduced SCOUTS New Zealand has placed the safety and wellbeing of its members at the forefront of our decision making.

Understandably the resurgence of community based transmission has caused further disruption to SCOUT activities. This resurgence has resulted in the need to reflect on our current operating restrictions in order to continuously improve our ‘new normal’ and what activities at a Group and Zone are permitted to undertake.

As part of the review it was recognised that;

  • New Zealand (and Regions within) will continue to fluctuate up and down the Alert Level system for the foreseeable future.
  • The Government, Ministry of Health and Sport New Zealand guidance is continuously changing.
  • SCOUTS New Zealand has implemented good contact tracing and hygiene processes.

Below is updated guidance for Zones, Groups and Campsites. All Alert Level 2 activities are subject to maximum gathering numbers defined by the Government and the Ministry of Health.

The new guidance is designed around ensuring the safety of our young people and volunteers through the application of the ‘Scout Bubble’ concept.
