APPOINTED BOARD MEMBER VACANCIES

Scouts Aotearoa empowers young people through adventurous experiences to lead lives that
make a positive difference.


Our current Board is ambitious and is seeking a dynamic individual to support the evolution of
the Scouting Movement in Aotearoa and contribute to a new phase of strategic development
and growth.


As a Board Member you will provide strategic leadership, monitor strategy implementation and
ensure compliance with relevant legislation while promoting financial solvency.
As a strategic thinker, you will navigate complex issues related to risk management and
innovation of service delivery models. You will demonstrate high ethical standards and integrity,
actively contributing to the decision-making process and accepting collective accountability for
these decisions. You will also communicate openly and constructively, respecting the
contributions of others and maintaining a reasonable level of financial literacy.


Board Composition
The Board of Scouts Aotearoa is composed of the Chair, the National Commissioner, three any
age representatives, two members aged under-26 years and appointed members.


Position and Term
● An appointed position is for a one year term with the ability to be further appointed by the
Board for an additional one year term(s).
● This vacancy is for an appointed position
● This is a voluntary position


Ideal Applicant
The following attributes and experience are being sought to strengthen and supplement the
current Board of Scouts Aotearoa:
● Governance or management experience, particularly in the Active Recreation, Sport,
youth development or the not-for-profit sector
● Financial management and revenue generation
● Youth Development
● Cultural competency
