For a whole week during the October school holidays Scouts will be immersed in the world of conservation, exploring the environment in and around Wellington, and learning about biodiversity and sustainability issues.

You will learn about and undertake predator free initiatives including trapping management, bird counting, wetland restoration, pest plants surveying and eradication and much more. Visits will include Zealandia eco-sanctuary, Te Taiao at Te Papa, an offshore island and other locations with conservation projects.

The Scout ideally should have undertaken a minimum 6 nights camping in the Scout section. They must have the approval of their Parents or Guardians, Youth leadership Team and Scout Leader.

Cost: TBC – provisionally $550 which includes accommodation, food, & materials. Transport to and from Wellington is additional.

Dates: October 2021

Due to circumstances of COVID-19 our volunteer team is unable to run the Conservation School in 2020. We look forward to getting the school started up next year!
