Mountaineering School
Our Mountaineering School is an example of the primary goal of our Adventure Schools – to get young people interacting with the great New Zealand outdoors.
Scouts Aotearoa’s Mount Ruapehu Lodge provides a base camp for Venturers 15+, Rovers and Leaders to learn mountaineering skills.
The mountaineering School uses highly skilled instructors teaching best current practice, who happen to be scout Kaiārahi. The school is supported by the Taranaki Alpine Club who supply us with up to date equipment.
The students will learn basic mountaineering and above the bush line skills which will enable them to explore the mountains all year round.
This school is a great learning extension for skiers and trampers wanting to go into the backcountry of New Zealand.
