Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School
About
For over fifty years, Scouts Aotearoa’s Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School has provided the highest quality aviation training in the country for budding young pilots aged 16-19.
In early January about 70 students attended the popular two-week long training camp at Matamata. The Flying School has many past students with successful careers in aviation.

Eligibility
Students must be New Zealand citizens. The course starts at the very basics of learning to fly. Participants selected should have no more than minimal previous flight experience (preferably only a trial flight at the local aero club or flying school). Students must turn 16 before they can legally fly solo.

Applications
Applications for the 60th Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School have now closed, including our waitlist. The dates for the 2028 'Walsh' will be notified at the conclusion of the next school.
