From the 17th – 23rd January Canoe School was in action. 18 Scouts and Venturers left their technology behind them and set out to canoe the Whanganui river.

This year marks 55 years of Walsh Memorial Scout Flying School. From 6th – 20th January this year, 70 students aged between 16-19 descended on Matamata and got put through their paces at flying school.

During Lockdown YAG (Youth Advisory Group) drafted some questions to ask Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern about various pressing issues. A response was received and YAG are excited to share it with you.

Scouts have been participating in Christmas Parades up and down the country! Check out some of their amazing floats.

Coastal Otago Scout Zone Leaders ran a Patrol Camp for the Scouts from Coastal Otago over the weekend. They had 10 patrols (48 youth) for a windy rainy night of youth lead camping.

Coastal Otago Zone held a Cossgrove and Cossgrove Gold course over the weekend for 26 youth.

Southland Gang Show took place September 24 – 26 at Repertory House in Invercargill. This years show was a mix of small, quick sketches, singing items, a dance routine, as well as a guest appearance by Silent Monks.

Since COVID-19 arrived in New Zealand and the Alert Level system was introduced SCOUTS New Zealand has placed the safety and wellbeing of its members at the forefront of our decision making. Understandably the resurgence of community based transmission has caused further disruption to SCOUT activities. This resurgence has resulted in the need to reflect on our current operating restrictions

On Monday August 3rd, Scouts all over the country participated in Scout Scarf Day. Scarves were worn to school, work, playgrounds, tree climbing, to the beach and more!
